The Monday after we bought Elio I took Beatrix down to Jake's Brookside Conoco to spruce her up. I did the full vacuum (a whole 75 cents worth, hey, she's small) and the $7 deluxe carwash! I came home and double-vacuumed the mats with my upright vacuum (on the front walk), parked her at the curb (Poor Beatrix, kicked to the curb!) and waited for Gordon to list her on KSL.com classifieds. With one thing and another (plus girls camp) we didn't get the ad placed until Thursday afternoon.
By then Beatrix was dusty and rain spotted so I went to Jake's for another carwash and then we took a little trip up to Kelly's Grove for her very last photo shoot.
The ad wasn't even up for 5 minutes before Gordon was getting texts asking about her. All told 386 views on the ad...
AND less then 48 hours later Beatrix has a new home! She's now going to live with Jake, Kelley and Ashton! (Have you noticed all of the coincidences here?) Kelley commutes from Farmington to West Valley each day for work so Beatrix is the perfect new companion for her! Don't they look happy?
Bye-bye Beatrix, old friend... we've had so many good times together.

333- In Perfect Harmony
I'd be the first to tell you that I'm not *up* on architecture but I do know what I like and I do think I have a good eye for beauty.
As I was driving through Orem today I saw this naked tree in silhouette on the rather plain brick building. But the way the tree traced its way across the arched windows of the building just set off the *oh, that's just right* in me. I was stopped for a left turn from State Street on to Center Street and had enough time to pull out my mpc from my cavernous purse and capture two shots without any cars... a serendipitous moment.

Looking at this harmony just makes me happy!
P.S. You can see Beatrix reflected in the window just to the left of the tree trunk! =)

3-2-1- Blast off!... or Beatrix' Twin
I needed to send back a package this morning on my way to the Temple. Imagine my surprise when I pulled into the parking lot and there was Beatrix' much redder and younger twin. I whipped out my mpc and clicked an image to save this day. I talked to the owner of the other red New Beetle and sang Beatrix' charms. I hope that the she enjoys her Beetle as much as I have Beatrix.

We just celebrated 11 years together! It's nice to have an old, dependable friend in Beatrix!

281- Triple D
We occasionally watch the TV show Drive-Ins, Diners and Dives. Unbelievably they've done a couple of segments on restaurants in Salt Lake City. Several years ago they featured Red Iguana. We went, we ate, we saw... yeah, we thought it fell into the category of over-priced dives.
Lasternight we saw a segment on Pat's Barbeque and Catering. One of the first things I did was Google it and read many of the reviews; there was a mix of good and not so good.
Can you guess what we did today? And Friday just happens to be the day of the *burnt-ends* special (This was featured on DDD). It's located in an industrial park at 2100 S and West Temple.
So what did we think? Hmmm... not my favorite. For my money I'd rather go to Famous Dave's. One of the common complaints I read was *the food was cold*. Although my *burnt ends* (twice smoked beef brisket) was warm enough, the cornbread was refrigerator cold. But my biggest complaint was that the meat had that telltale lighter fluid taste. I can't like that. (And yes, it falls into the category of my being able to sniff-out drugs at the airport! bwahahahaha)
This sign lives right in from of Pat's... that pretty much expresses my feelings on smoking.

266- BIG and little
or you could say...
I went down to the church to be set apart for my new calling**. When I came out these were the only two cars in the parking lot! Little, cute, dependable, economical, red Beatrix and Brother Clyde's red manly-man truck. It made me laugh right out loud!
Now do you want the second piece of funny information? Brother Clyde is 6 foot 7 inches... I'm 5 foot 3 inches on a good day.

** I am very excited about this new calling! I will be teaching the 15-year old Sunday School class! I haven't taught SS. I love to work with the youth and the kids in our ward are outstanding.
- tall and short
- new and old
- manly and girlie

212- Beatrix
Tonight I went to the Ward picnic up at Kelly's Grove, driving up in my little car, Beatrix. As usually happens I was one of the last to leave. As I walked towards Beatrix I was filled with appreciation for this little car that has served me so faithfully for almost 10 years! She's become such a good friend.
We've worn out the road between Palmdale and Utah; first in one direction and now in the other. She's been a freight hauler (you'd be surprised how much junk I can get in her trunk!) I've camped in her. I've laughed and cried in her. We've listened to HOURS of Harry Potter together. "They" say that her engine is good for 250,000 miles, so we are only halfway through our journey together. I like to say, She's cute, red and gets 48 mpg... it's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

I suppose it's silly how we get attached to inanimate objects, but there you are!

POTD Four
Nine years ago just after I'd gotten my little Beetle-car (whose name happens to be Beatrix) I was at a New Year's soccer tournament in Simi Valley, CA with Stuart. There was a lady there who had these wonderful vinyl Christmas lights on the back of her Suburban. I HAD to have some!! I contacted the person who made them and ordered two sets; one for me and one for Bek. By the time Christmas 2001 rolled around this person was no longer in business and I couldn't get lights (*sniff*sob*).
Since moving to Utah, where everybody and their brother has a vinyl cutting machine I've tried to get someone to make these lights for me, but (*sniff*) I couldn't get them.
So this year I took matters into my own hands and went to Robert's Crafts, purchased some window vinyl, got out my scissors (I don't need no stinking cutting machine) and made my own lights (said the Little Red Hen!!).

I'm happy enough with the results and have enough material left to make similar lights for 3 more years! Who knows, maybe by next year I will find more colors!
