Golden Sunset
Laster-evening during an intermission from a Harry-Pot-a-thon with Auntie P I went upstairs just in time to see the whole sky filled with that wonderful golden light that I just love! I whipped up the blinds, opened the window and shot right through the screen to capture this beauty. We live in such a beautiful world!

323- Harry Potter Theme at BYU Bell-tower!
Several months I saw a group on Facebook saying that the Harry Potter Theme would be played today, 11/19/10, the opening day of the 1st part of the Last Harry Potter movie. You know how these things sometimes go... a lot of wishful thinking.
I went to the Temple this morning and got out just in time to boog-it down to the Bell-tower with mpc in hand. I found a parking place RIGHT THERE.; And at noon guess what happened??
You betcha! HP Theme! Yay!

191- The Little Red Hen...
... wants a holiday! But seeing as how this is just the BEGINNING of the harvest season, that's not too likely!
My currants needed picking today. Every year I am surprised again at how time consuming this task is. In previous years I've called a neighbor to come pick what I didn't use (read ~ I got tired of picking!)

But this year I invited Emma out into the garden with me to help. Well, we all know she is a sloth and only good as a match-maker. And true to form she only lasted about an hour (read~ the batteries died on my MP3 player).
So I hunted up my best buddy, Harry. Now there is a different story! He is tireless (read~ I had extra AA batteries). He flew through the air, he bested Malfoy, he narrowly escaped death TWICE in meetings with Voldemort, he saved the sorcerer's stone! Yes, now there is a friend I can always count on to help me with my mundane *Little Red Hen* duties.
He stayed with me to the very end of my 5-hour task! What a guy! Somehow when I have company the time just seems to go by faster and the task not quite so mundane.
We ended up with 4 large Tupperware bowls-full of currants... think that will make a lot of ruby-colored jelly!

048- March of the Ents
As many of you know I love to read; but perhaps even more, I love to be read to (well, maybe it's a toss up). I love the classics or what I will refer to as the new classics (Harry Potter is one, but sorry, no classic rating for the Twilight series). I have the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the Harry Potter books on CD and have listened to them numerous times. These volumes are comfortable old friends that keep me company when I am busy with my hands, but my mind isn't occupied.
One of the first times I was driving my friend DeLoris I noticed that we have Ents marching up Maple Mountain. They aren't so noticeable in the summer, but in the winter they stand out clearly.

The last time I listened to the Lord of the Rings one passage jumped out at me. It is Treebeard, the Ent, speaking of the evil wizard Saruman.
"... his face, as I remember it-- I have not seen it for many a day-- became like windows in a stone wall: windows with shutters inside." [The Two Towers; Book III, p. 76]
I've reflected on that quote since I jotted it down last fall. I've reflected on how our countenance displays who we are and who we represent. Do we see His image in our countenance? Does the Light of Christ shine in our eyes?
I am reminded of a story I heard that is attributed to Abraham Lincoln (who we all know was not a good looking man). Someone was encouraging him to choose a man for his staff and Mr. Lincoln said, "I don't like his face." The other man questioned him on that; how can you not like a man for the way their face looks? The answer was simple; by the time you get to be the age of the man in question you are responsible for how your face looks.
Again, windows in a stone wall: windows with shutters inside or the Light of Christ in our eyes... always our choice.

More R A B
Now, for those of you out there who are Harry Potter fans (Would we be called Harry Potter Heads? Pot-heads for short?? No! At least Potter-heads!!)
R A B doesn't refer to Regulus Arcturus Black but...

Recently we were treated to some wonderful summer thunder storms, complete with a beautiful triple rainbow! Sadly, the camera doesn't capture the third rainbow as did my eye. The third was actually a repeat of the brightest rainbow immediately below it. It repeated itself starting with the green, blue, and violet ribbons of light. It was truly beautiful.

Next time you see a rainbow STOP and take that photo... these were taken with my Razor phone camera.

First Blog Anniversary
I can't believe that it was a year ago that I started my blog. So much has happened in this last year. I thought it might be fun to list some of the highlights (and perhaps lowlights as well)
~Spencer and baby Riley~
My first Jessica Sprague experience (actually done 13 months ago) Photo taken 6/19/07, 'Shopped 6/21/07
I've considered giving my blog a face lift, but for right now I am happy with the look I have, I am up to my eyebrows in early fruit and just don't have the energy to read all the blogger cheats to learn how to do something cool and exciting!
Thanks to all of you who've made this journey with me. I look forward to many more years of blog-dom.
- Indexed/arbitrated almost 25,000 names at Family Search (which has given me a wonderful way to participate in family history)
- Traveled to the east coast, the west coast and the south coast (TX) to see all of our grandchildren.
- Discovered Jessica Sprague and her PhotoShop coolness in digital scrapbooking. (see below my very first experience with Jessica and her PSF)
- Taken 2 AWESOME classes from said Jessica and LEARN SO MUCH!
- Read and/or listened to Harry Potter books, ummm, more times than I want to admit (Harry helps me do so many things!)
- Had a new grandson and granddaughter arrive. Plus one almost grandson.
- Grown my hair out! I'd had the same hairstyle for 18 years. It is now chin length, photo coming soon.
- Adopted an dog. He's getting better behaved every day!
- Posted to my blog 61 times.
- Attended BYU Ed Week and BYU Women's Conference (always a wonderful treat)
- Studied the scriptures and gain more spiritual insight.
- Gotten a year older...
- And so many other things I just can't think of them all...

All Things Harry
So... I have started to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows over again. I appreciate JK Rowling's writing style, her humor and unexpected plot twists.
As I am reading this again I see all sorts of avenues for her to continue the series or to begin a new series. I certainly hope that this is not the last we hear from her.

Finished HP7

I finished Harry Potter in just 29 hours from the time I purchased it at Wal-Mart at 12:15am on 7-21-07. I have never done this before... read a book this fast! I LOVED it. I stayed up until 5 am both mornings reading. (something else I've never done!)
So for those who haven't read it I won't put any details... but when you fininsh let me know and we can discuss it.

Harry Potter Maniac
I suppose I should be a little embarrassed by this, but I am a Harry Potter fan. I love the books. I have all of them! But tonight the 7th and FINAL book comes out! I have been in conundrums about this. I want to know what happens, but I don't want it to end.
I know that good will triumph over evil... but I know there will be losses. Probably Harry will lose more people who are close to him.
I have enjoyed this whole series of books so much. I love that JK Rowling adds in wisdom, morals (and the moral of the story is... too), and suspence.
I have all of the books on CD read by Jim Dale (love his voices). I never make a road trip without Harry. He has driven with me 1000's of miles. He has helped me work in the garden, remodel the bathroom, sew miles of quilts, and go to sleep at night when I can't shut off my brain.
I have to remind myself that this is just a story!
