Trucks at 16 and 60!

For years (almost 8 to be exact) I've taken photos of the beautiful sunsets that always delight and amaze me and especially in the winter there is usually this teal truck in the foreground. Most of you probably don't even notice it... but I do!

sunset

Well I finally got sick and tired of it always being there so I moved that *dang-thing*! Where did I move it too?

In front of MY house!!! Bwahahaha!!

"new" truck

We've mentioned to several of our neighbors who have older trucks, "If you ever want to sell your truck, let us know!" Well, Brad did! He made us a wonderful deal AND we know that it has been lovingly cared for. How could we go wrong?

I've wanted a truck since we moved to Utah. We've kicked around the idea. Gordon's looked at trucks online but it just didn't come together until now. We've had to borrow a truck or trailer several times a season to haul green-waste, pick up something big at Home Depot, take a snowblower or mower into to be fixed or move something. But now! Now we have our very own truck!!

Lasterday as Gordon and I were high-fiving each other exalting that we were finally truck owners (for the very first time) I remember that *my first car* was also a truck. It didn't belong to me; my mom bought it after I wrecked her little Dart wagon (stupid kid!!) She bought it for the same reason we did- she just needed a hauler AND a second back-up car to drive her US Mail route, and make little-Joanie mobile. She was very kind to me in that way. (Let's be honest! My mom was kind to me in EVERY WAY!

old ford truck

For some reason I find it a little ironic that the only trucks I've *owned* are teal... the first one at age 16 and now, this one, at age 60.

OK- Here's another conundrum. What to name my new friend. Got any suggestions?

150- Model A Cafe

You might remember that back in March (Day 61 to be exact) I posted about one of our favorite restaurants, the Model A Cafe. I mentioned how beautiful the flowers are in the summer and promised another post showing them.

Tonight, after working in the yard, I just wanted to eat out! (and Gordon is always very accommodating about that idea). I just wanted a yummy hamburger. And although I'd never had a burger at Model A before I had no doubt that they were just the place to go for a yummy hamburger.

I was not disappointed with my Bacon Mushroom Cheeseburger! (I was too hungry to even think of taking a photo of it!!) The bacon was crispy, the meat juicy, but well cooked, the onions grilled to that wonderful caramel stage, and the melty cheese enrobed the sauteed mushrooms... Add lettuce, tomato, pickles, just a touch of mayo... YUMMY!! Just what my mouth wanted!

When we drove up to the cafe my eyes were treated to a riot of color and the minute we stepped out of the car I was enveloped in that wonderful petunia-Plumas-County-Fair smell! It is just heaven.

And do you want to know the most wonderful part about these plants?? A local nurseryman from just down the street stopped in one day and asked Teresa if he could do their flowers. He placed a very tasteful sign by the car. Guess where I'm going on Monday?

PS... a little sideline... I am listening to the crickets for the first time this year! I love that sound!

061- Model A Cafe

Our dear friends opened a little cafe almost a year ago. It is called the Model A Cafe and is located in Mapleton, Utah. We try to go there often and this was one of our days. It is like stepping back in time; where you know your neighbors and the owner comes to chat with you during your dinner.

I love this little old rusted Model A. It sits right by the cute red building. In the summer there are beautiful flowers blooming in the now dead and empty pots. (I can see that I've just opened the door for a summer post about the Model A Cafe!)

It's always a pleasant dining experience... my recommendations? You can't go wrong with the french dip sandwich and Teresa makes a homemade apple cake with cream sauce that is to die for. Happy times.
